Silver Lining for Thomastown, Dec 2013

Thomastown athletics club had a very successful day at the final stage of the All-Ireland’s in the W.I.T. complex, Co. Waterford, on December 13th 2013.

The opening race of the day was the U11 girls and Thomastown’s Áine Kirwan had the race of her life, going with the leaders and storming home to take silver for the second year in a row! Along with the silver individual medal, Áine also collected two more silver medals. She led Leinster to second place in the inter-provincial competition and Kilkenny to second place in the county section. There was also a good run by Anna Cass, who was also competing as part of the county team with Áine.

There was more sucess for Thomastown in the girls U13’s race. This time taking homes silver medals in the club event. On the team there was Ellen Ryan, Ciara O’ Keeffe, Sinéad O’ Keeffe and Orla O’ Keeffe. In the county event Kilkenny finished fourth place just outside the medals.

Overall it was a great day for Thomastown athletics club, as the standard was very high in every race.
