Girl’s Football Final November 28th 2012, St Canice’s V Thomastown

On Wednesday Thomastown and St Canice’s went to O’ Loughlins to play each other in the school final. The team was lined out with Jodie Lancashire on goal, Ava Kavanagh on one corner and Dearbhaile O’ Keeffe was full-back. Lizzie Buckley was in the other corner and Laure Quigley was centre-back. The mid-fielders were Caoimhe Kelly and Laoise Fennelly and Eimear Farrell (Captain) Centre-forward was Ciara Prendergast and corner-forwards was Ciara Morrissey. Eva Hynes was full-forward and in the other corner was Ruth Ryan.
The game started off with a great battle for the ball. When St. Canice’s got the first ball we kept our heads up. St. Canice’s were a point up at the end of the first half but we were determined to win. In the second half we drove on to win the match by 9 points. The final score was 2-1 to 2-10.

Eimear Farrell (1-2), Ciara Prendergast (1-0), Eva Hynes (0-4), Caoimhe Kelly (0-7)
All of the score won us the match. We were all so happy when the whistle blew. Eimear Farrell was then presented with the cup. Eva Hynes got player of the match. A big thank you to Ms. O’ Shea and Ms. Power who got us to the final!
